Christmas Vacation

We did a Dora inspired scavenger hunt and Lex's work to surprise the kids with a trip Utah for Christmas.

Vacations are hard work
Minute to Win It , Santa dress up game
Ty loves horses
Christmas Eve Nativity with McCormick cousins, Ty already knew to be reverent.  What a smart boy.
Christmas PJ's
Christmas Morning, Santa made it to Utah with our stuff, all except Lex's bike
Grandma Bev's carmel corn
We sure do miss the Mexican food from Utah, but we made up for it.
We had so much fun on our trip.  It was exhausting, but we were so grateful that we could go and see our family.  We miss seeing them so often and are blessed to have their support.

Meg's Tonsils

Meg had strep throat four times since school started so she had to get her tonsils out.  She was very upset until I told her that sometimes people get presents when they have surgery.  She was happier then, but still very nervous.
Tonsils gone, she was so sweet and cute when she was all done.  I wish that lasted for the next three weeks.  Ugh.

Lex went hunting too.

Dad shot two deer, but he didn't take a picture of his doe. (I think it was smaller then mine.)

Hanging out.

Horsey, of course, over Thanksgiving.
We inherited an air hockey table with our house.  Dad and the kids played on it for about two weeks.  Now it sits there empty or with sewing or crafts on it.  Weird.
church wears us out
Oh Christmas tree

the big hunt

the morning after we moved Lex and I headed out for my first big deer hunt.  We went to bed at 12:30 am and got up at 4:30am.  Then we hiked for several hours only to end up truck bound because of blinding snow.  Needless to say the first day ended like this picture above.
The next week was much more pleasant and although all in all I missed two huge muley bucks I did finally achieve the one shot wonder status.  I am so proud (even though the antler is fake)
My deer fit inside this old washbasin I found in a junk pile while we were hunting, along with an old window screen frame and some bottles.  Lex thinks the best part for me was finding the junk, he might be right.
That night the kids helped to skin "faline", who turned into sausage and the best bacon wrapped backstrap I have ever eaten.  I might shout a yearling every year.  YUM

Halloween

Halloween was awesome.  Too bad Meg was sick in bed with strep throat so Dad had to stay home too.  The other kids got her some candy.

Ty's Cake

Ty had a great bday.  It took him awhile to get the present concept and also eating cake but he was all smiles.
